Mandy asks…
What are the best keyword search terms to use to find job postings on business sites.. not Monster, CB, etc..?
Looking to uncover job leads by finding postings on local business sites for help wanted. Trying terms like “positions”, “to hire”, “city, state”. Newspapers, job boards show all the same garbage over and over again. Want to find current or previous job listings on the company sites themselves.
Robin West answers:
The best site that is dedicated to finding just jobs that are on the company sites – and doesn’t include any of the garbage from the job boards – is LinkUp.com. What they do is only include jobs found on company sites, which is over 400,000 jobs with just under 20,000 companies.
They also have something called a “job cloud”, which will let you discover useful keywords depending on what industry you’re interested in. That page is at http://www.linkup.com/job-cloud.php

Lizzie asks…
which career would pay more for somebody living in north carolina?
please tell me the career salarys from highest paid to lowest paid with these job listings. local anchorwomen, CEO, photographer, resturant developer, makeover artist, local talk show host, magazine editor, caterer, interior design, tv producer, veternarian, wedding designer, pediatrician, or a couples therapist.
Robin West answers:
Depends on the company, the location, type of station, private practice or employee, MD or PHD, investor or owner etcetera.
There is no accurate, definitive answer to that question.
You can get a statewide average but averages are for the most part useless because the actual wages of some individuals are much higher and some are much lower, thus making the average of no real value. The difference from one city or town to another also varies greatly.
You can look up this information by career and by city at:
http://data.bls.gov/oes/search.jsp?data_tool=OES
the figures they provide are actual reported earnings from the IRS not estimates as many other sites provide.
Mr. Jerry Richardson, owner of the Carolina Panthers, was for 2 decades the highest paid person in the Carolina’s (North or South) and was at the time a CEO (Spartan Foods/TW Services/Flagstar), a caterer and restaurant developer with the restaurant developer being his primary focus. So in North Carolina restaurant developer would be at the top of the list.
