Sandy asks…

Job Seeking?

My husband is extremely unhappy with his job. Currently he works at a call center at Chase bank (in San Antonio, TX) but he hates it. He wants a better job, something that he’ll enjoy, but I don’t know of any in the area. He’s a 21 year old with an associates in Math and Science (I don’t know if that helps) and he really likes working with computers and his hands (he used to be a karate instructor). Is there anyone out there who maybe has his same qualifications but actually likes their job? Are there any jobs out there that he might enjoy? I don’t want any cynical answers or references to Monster.com or anything like that (he’s already applied there). We just want to know if there are any jobs that he could do that would be fulfilling or enjoyable for him.

Thanks so much for any help you can give us!!!
Also, good pay would be great, but not a requirement. Right now we’re living on about $24,000/yr gross.

Robin West answers:

He could possibly get a job at some tech company that deals with computers. Tell him to look around that area because I am sure there is a position available like that around the San Antonio area.

He could also teach karate again. I’m sure that is a decent income also.

He might be able to get some teaching assistant job with the degree he has. Look at jobs available in primary, secondary, or even the college (more than likely community) level. If not a teaching assistant, I’m sure there will be other positions available with his skills.

James asks…

job seeking???

im 15 and i live in miami in the kendall area and i would like a job can anyone help me!!! LET ME KNOW

Robin West answers:

At 15 you’ll probably have good chances at a grocery, or restraunt.
Things that look better when you’re looking for fulltime work to an employer are a retirement home (i worked at one and loved it), or a hospital. Both will hire teens for food handling, candy striping, reading to people, ect. Some hospitals require a lot of training, or will only take volunteers but they tend to pay better than retirement homes if you find one.
