Susan asks…
is this a bad time to move to los angeles?
I am getting a master dergree in communications and would love to live in LA for a year. Is this a bad time to move down there and get a job? I live on the east cost. I am choosing LA over DC because most jobs in DC require many years of experience and most are government jobs I am not qualified to apply for.
Will have enough money for the first 3-5 months. No job lined up. I have been receiving a lot of calls for interviews.
May be someone here is looking for a roommate?
thanks maliboo! best input…
I have been researching for a while and read a lot about the downsides of leaving in LA, especially with this economy… I know how to live on tight budget and I am willing to do low paying jobs while I am searching for a real one. I am also willing to roommate or live in someone’s house and pay a low rent/help around in exchange for that etc…
I am moving to LA in a few months. I would love more input on how I can make it!
Robin West answers:
I grew up in LA County (a nice part) and my whole family lives there, and i love it. But around this time, it really depends. Obviously, the econmy isn’t the best, but it is especially bad in California as a whole. You might have a lot of money, but the government takes away a lot. The more you make, the more that gets taken. Really that simple unfortunately. I would say if you are finicially secure and are ok with big governemt and taxes, then sure. But as beautiful as California is, and how much I miss it… I would wait.
Hope this helps.

Nancy asks…
How can I earn in Los Angeles?
I am international student coming to USC for graduate studies. As I am being sponsored by my government so I am not allowed to have a part time job. I want to earn money without being noticed. I can teach home home tution of pharmacy, GRE and Biomedical sciences. Is there any scope of home tutions in LA? Moreover, any other job which I can have part time to earn some extra bucks?
Robin West answers:
You can apply for freelance writing, bookkeeping, software, transcription, online tuition or customer service work at home jobs. These companies do not require any fee and pay well . List of companies(with websites) offering genuine work at home jobs is available at http://www.pcworkathome.net . Many of these companies have been in business for several years
