I have done BEng in civil in india, now settled in London ,UK. Have some experience in india. As the methodology is different in Uk, I am looking for entry/trainee/junior level jobs in London to get on with. Can anyone suggest websites of companies in London area. Thanks

Nobody looks forward to the notion of hunting for a job, and the majority of us need all the help we can get. After being jobless during the last couple of weeks I secured a fantastic job after checking out the resource in the box below and taking their advice for a couple of weeks. Give it a try, it certainly helped me.

Susan asks…

How to look for a entry level civil engineering job !?

i’m a civil eng. just graduated from jordan ! am american though i still don’t know what should i do ! and how to look for a job other than tha online adds found on google or career sites !
am in Portsmouth NH now And am willing to relocate

Robin West answers:

The good news is that civil engineering is going to be one of the hottest jobs around right now. Many are retiring or near retirement and the US infrastructure is aging rapidly.

A great place to start would be the US government. Army corps of engineers or state government positions.

You might could get on with an architectural firm but that might be a bit tougher to come by in the beginning.

Paul asks…

Are you having a hard time getting an entry-level civil engineering position?

I recently graduated and I cannot seem to get a job to save my life. I have great grades and some internship experience. Just wondering if anyone else is in the same boat?!?!

Robin West answers:

I hate to say it, but Civil Engineering jobs are scarce right now– especially entry-level. Because of the economy, people just aren’t building things like they were a couple years ago. Of course, some states might be better off than others, so you might broaden your horizons and look at jobs that might involve relocating to another area. It also takes a little while to get a job immediately after graduating, so don’t get discouraged.

What you should do is take your resume to several different companies, attend events (like local ASCE meetings) and get your name out there– finding work has a lot to do with networking and a lot more to do with persistence. Stick with it. Don’t give up!

G’luck.
