Executive Search

Average time to fill an executive search?

How long does it usually take to fill an open executive position?

It totally depends on the situation. Sometimes there is someone waiting to take the position, and the ‘vetting’ process is already complete, and the position can be filled quickly. Other times, a position is vacated unexpectedly and there isn’t anyone else qualified in the corporate structure, and the search is extensive and takes months. I’d say average time is 2 months, but that definitely takes into account the corporations that have a ready and waiting replacement. It can take up to a year, and even more, to replace the CEO or CFO of a large corporation.
