What should I do?

I’ve allways wanted to have an office type job, but since I only finished High School I’ve only worked as QA Inspector for cosmetics and pharmaceutical companies. Now I have to decide if either going to a tech school for an Executive Assistant program (a year) or taking this job offer: temp to perm, Inspector,$18.00/hour.

I liked my temp jobs! I worked for a company that provided free training in all the various softwares, so I could work 3-4 days a week and then on the 5th day go in and learn anything from Excel to Adobe Photoshop! With every software I learned, my earning potential went up big time. Plus, with the temp jobs I could take long-term jobs or short-term jobs, depending on if I had time off that I needed to take. It also gave me a very well-rounded resume, as when I was ready to go to work full time I was able to put experience in everything from engineering firms to brokerage houses (as an admin/exec asst).

It completely depends on what you really want. If you’re not sure about the Inspector job, see if they have any true temp jobs – ones that will offer you experience – start out at a receptionist type job, get proficient at that. Practice your typing skills and ask to learn more softwares. Temp agencies are awesome if you have goals and aspirations to work in an office setting! Best of luck
